Prescriptions:
In the interest of patient safety, prescriptions will not be routinely provided without an appointment with a doctor.
Telephone requests for prescriptions will be accepted in exceptional circumstances only.
In order for a script to be issued without consultation ALL of the following criteria must be met:

The patient must be a regular patient of the practice

The patient must have been seen by one of our doctors within the last 6 months

The medication must have been previously prescribed from our practice, or one that is clearly documented in a recent specialist letter or hospital discharge letter

Only ONE MONTH of supply will be issued via phone request, i.e. no repeats

A charge of $20 per item will apply, payable at time of script collection

If scripts are to be faxed and/or posted to a pharmacy without the patient collecting in person, a credit card payment of $25 applies before the script is dispatched

The prescribing doctor has FULL DISCRETION and may refuse to issue a script with no reason or explanation necessary
Referrals:
Specialist appointments require a current referral to be eligible for a rebate from Medicare. A doctor’s appointment is necessary to obtain this. Urgent referrals via telephone request will only be provided in exceptional circumstances and attract a fee of $40.00.
In order for a referral to be issued without consultation:

The patient must be a regular patient of the practice

The patient must have been seen by one of our doctors within the last 6 months
-
The patient must have discussed the reasons for the referral with their doctor at a prior consultation or previously had a referral to the particular specialist from our practice.

NO referral will be back dated, so please do not ask

A charge of $40 will apply for such referrals payable at the time of issuing the referral, either upon collection or prior to faxing.

The referring doctor has FULL DISCRETION and may refuse to issue a referral with no reason or explanation necessary
No prescriptions or referrals via telephone request will be issued if the patient has not attended the Practice within the last 6 months.
